The VALUE4NANO project started in September 2013 and aims at developing an implementation roadmap of 4 value chains and their target products. The roadmap will include business modelling and planning for a set of pilot lines and it will involve strategic industry and European stakeholders from research and innovation. Finnish innovation consultancy Spinverse strengthens its service portfolio by acquiring Open Innovation Management Oy. By acquisition Spinverse begins operating the Innovation Mill-accelerator, which commercializes large corporations’ unused ideas and innovations. The accelerator started as cooperation between Nokia, Tekes and Technopolis and during the four years of operation it has created 70 new companies and 650 new jobs.

The Edge, real name David Howell Evans, known as the U2 guitarist, was one of the highlights at EuroNanoForum 2013. Instead of great guitar solos, he encouraged the global research and industry community to continue living dreams and reaching for the future: to continue the safe commercialisation of nanotechnology for improving people’s lives. His video greeting was in line with his activities in supporting public philanthropy and more specifically the fight against the cancer disease in the world.
Startup entrepreneurship has became lately a super sexy trend in Finland. Some 400 new companies have been established by former Nokia employees, accelerated by for instance Innovation Mill – program (Kauppalehti Optio 11.4.). European partnership focusing on nanoelectronics ENIAC Joint Undertaking has granted funding for a project coordinated by Okmetic Oyj. The total budget of the “Processes for MEMS by Inkjet Enhanced Technologies,” or PROMINENT project is 9.4 M€, and the coordination is managed by Spinverse Oy.
