According to the annual Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Survey by Spinverse, investments in research and development (R&D) will increase in 2013 in almost half of the Finnish companies, and almost a third of the companies will recruit more this year. However, CTOs are not as optimistic as in the previous years: less companies are increasing investments and recruitment.

Kenneth Ekman, CEO of a Kokkola-based chemicals company CrisolteQ, has been chosen as the 2013 Chief Technology Officer of the Year.
Technology Academy Finland (TAF),Spinverse Oy, the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK and Sitra give this award in recognition of the work of a CTO who has made a significant contribution to the technical performance and growth potential of their company, is an inspiring leader and is actively involved in professional organisations and discussion on the role of technology.

Spinverse has today announced the Nanotech Europe exhibition, which will be part of the EuroNanoForum 2013 conference held 18-20 June, in Dublin, Ireland. This launch coincides with the event website launch and introduction of the new logo.

The CTO of the Year Award 2013 ceremony will take place on the 23rd of January 2013, Aalto Design Factory, Espoo.

The measurement of chemicals develops with Russian technology

Today in his speech, Mr Pekka Koponen, CEO of Spinverse Ltd, highlighted the importance of co-operation in high-tech and innovation between Finland and Russia, stating: “Nanotechnology, the atomic-level precision in developing new materials, is predicted to be the most fundamental force for new products in all industries. The area is funded by billions per year, Rusnano being one of the largest individual investors globally.”
