The latest success story: Finnish SME to revolutionise electronics with EU funding
More and more brilliant SMEs are set to strengthen European competitiveness with the support of Horizon 2020 SME Instrument programme, Spinverse is delighted to make known yet another customer success story: Finnish company TactoTek secured Horizon2020 SME Instrument financing to revolutionise the way we manufacture electronics for the benefit of the European automotive industry.
TactoTek is an Oulu-based innovative SME manufacturing injection-moulded structural electronics that integrate flexible printed circuitry and discrete electronic components into mass-produced 3D injection-moulded plastics, enabling cost-effective designs with highly scalable production processes. The people behind TactoTek are an international team of experts with years of experience in engineering, science, business and design, working with enthusiasm to enhance transport intelligence and functionality and move one step closer to smart cities.
TactoTek’s story dates back to 2011. After just a few years, the company has emerged as a premier developer of durable structural electronics. Providing unmatched benefits of design freedom, durability, space saving and weight reduction the company’s technology is set to revolutionise European automotive industry. Manufactured using standard mass production equipment for production efficiency and scalability, TactoTek solutions may be as simple as LEDs or as complex as microprocessors, answering the need for luxurious styling at a lower price point while reducing vehicle’s weight.
According to analysts, electronic circuits embedded in vehicles have the potential to be a multi-billion market by 2025. Those numbers sound justified, as the elements of structural electronics could be integrated within the vehicle's body and interior, enabling, for instance, ubiquitous sensing and instant alerting in case of touch or damage, practically resembling the Iron Man’s artificially intelligent assistant, operating his suits, in the futuristic comic series.
Within this EC funded project, TactoTek aims to pilot unique mass production of structural electronics, consequently expanding to the global automotive market to address an ever-growing demand for innovations.
