Spinverse success rate in EU-funded FP7 program is 100%

According to the recently published statistics of Finland’s participation in the EU’s 7th framework program, Spinverse is in third place as to the number of projects out of all Finnish SMEs, totaling to seven funded projects. The success rate for Spinverse for the application to funding ratio is 100%.

Overall, during the 7th Framework program, Finland received in total 867 MEur of funding out of which only 20 % went to Finnish companies and the rest to research institutes, universities and other similar organisations. Finland is still receiving 1,18 times more funding than it is contributing, however, the number has been decreasing towards the end of the program. Finland’s seven-year success rate has been 21,35% which is above the EU-average with the peak being in 2009. In 2013 and 2014 Finland’s success rate fell below the EU-average. On many measures, such as funding per researcher and amount of projects coordinated, Finland has done worse than its peers Sweden and Denmark.

The 4,8m EUR project consists of 9 partners namely atmospheric pressure plasma equipment manufacturers and end-users, who will work with leading experts in research and technology innovation to overcome the barriers to commercial application of a unique intellectual property right (IPR) portfolio. The aim is to bring cutting-edge IPR-protected innovations from the laboratory scale to industrial implementation for advanced surface treatment of materials. This will be done by demonstrating the suitability of the technology for existing and new industrial applications in the medical products and diagnostics sector.
