Our new colleagues Marianna and Edward strengthen expertise on bioeconomy, ICT and project management

In May, we welcomed Marianna Mea and Edward Mutafungwa to the Spinverse team. Both of them hold broad subject matter expertise and doctoral degrees in their respective areas. We also value their prior experience in running public grant proposal preparations.

Marianna Mea joined Spinverse in May 2022 and works with us as a Project Manager focusing on R&D&I projects in the Bioeconomy team led by Kaisu Leppänen. Before joining Spinverse, Marianna gained experience as a project manager and science communicator at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (Naples, Italy), at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology (Bremen, Germany) and at the Polytechnic University of Marche (Ancona, Italy) among the others, working on a vast range of projects and grant proposal preparations. 

Originally from Italy and working remotely from there, Marianna holds a Doctoral degree in Marine Biology and Ecology. She also holds a postgraduate specialization in European Project Management.

Edward Mutafungwa joined us as a Senior Project Manager in the ICT and Electronics team led by Pirjo Pasanen. Edward has over 15 years’ experience in preparation, implementation and management of R&D&I projects that aim to leverage communication technologies for different vertical segments. This includes projects funded by local and international funding instruments, such as European Commission (Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe), Business Finland, Eureka Clusters and Finland Ministry of Foreign Affairs (HEI ICI programme).

Prior to joining Spinverse, Edward was a Staff Scientist and Project Manager at Aalto University with applied research interests that included analysing how advances in progressive mobile technology generations (particularly, 4G, 5G and beyond) impact various vertical industries (and vice versa). Edward is originally from Tanzania and holds a Doctoral of Science in Technology (Communications Engineering major) from the Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University). He also holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications and Information Systems from the University of Essex.
