Celebrating work anniversaries: A decade and beyond at Spinverse

At Spinverse, we believe that our success is rooted in the dedication and expertise of our team members. In January, we took a moment to celebrate the significant career milestones of four of our colleagues: Markku Heino, Joni Turunen, Eeva Viinikka and Katri Saarinen.

Principal Consultant and Ecosystem Leader, D.Sc. (Tech.) Markku Heino is celebrating 15 years at Spinverse, whilst the other celebrated colleagues of ours are not far behind: Principal Consultant, D.Sc. (Tech.) Eeva Viinikka, Project Director, M.Sc. (Tech.) Joni Turunen and Financial Coordinator Katri Saarinen are each celebrating a decade at Spinverse. All have contributed to Spinverse’s success with their unwavering commitment and professionalism.

Markku Heino has been with us for 15 years and continues to strongly support our customers with building and leading ecosystems, providing the customer teams with valuable insights, facilitation and communication skills, with subject matter expertise along the way. A true professional in facilitation and guiding our customers and their partners to find the right paths, Markku contributes to a multitude of customer projects in a variety of areas, such as circular economy of plastics SPIRIT, sustainable manufacturing SHAPE, digital healthcare CleverHealth Network, etc. One of his recently completed major projects is the smart city ecosystem LuxTurrim5G led with Nokia. Earlier he has been coordinating several large national and industrywide innovation programmes renewing Finnish industry, such as Functional Materials, Green Growth and BEAM/Developing markets (with Business Finland) as well as DEMAPP, HYBRIDS and BSA programmes with the metals and manufacturing industry. Altogether, these programmes have included well above 500 individual projects, bringing new business worth tens of billions of euros.

Eeva is one of Spinverse's key experts in microelectronics and semiconductors; the total volume EU projects that are based on her central role in proposal building is close to 200M€ (AGRARSENSE,  Energy ECS,  APPLAUSE ECSEL,  CHARM ECSEL and  EuroPAT-MASIP to mention a few recent projects). Eeva has an extensive overall understanding of the various funding instruments and can pinpoint their opportunities for our customers in an engaging way in customer meetings. Her network and her abilities to find the right contacts in and outside Finland is a great asset for us when building ecosystems or consortiums. Eeva is also a great facilitator at our events.

Joni is a man with many skills: he supports our colleagues with all topics project management and looks into emerging business development needs. He sees the big picture and finds the best ways to work and develop our competences. He is open to try out and test new technologies and supports colleagues when help is needed. What’s more, Joni has a very systematic approach to complex matters. Joni has also been facilitating a variety of customer projects, such as LuxTurrim5G, LUMI supercomputer and KONE Veturi ecosystem, worth over 400M€.

Katri is the heart and soul behind our financial system. She is always there to help out colleagues and customers alike in complex matters related to invoicing or project financing. She knows the intricacies of EU project financing like the back of her hands. For several years, Katri was our go-to person the EU consortium members can rely on when they need training on EU funding upon a successful funding decision. Currently Katri’s focus is more on project reporting, internal financial coordination and consulting colleagues in various financial matters, starting from tools and processes.

Markku, Eeva, Katri and Joni were awarded anniversary recognitions by the Finnish Chamber of Commerce. Join us in celebrating the professional journeys of our lovely colleagues.
