Spinverse Oy acquires Swedish IMCG International AB to extend Nordic leadership in innovation funding consulting
Finnish innovation consulting company Spinverse Oy and Impact Management Consulting Group International AB (IMCG) from Sweden have today announced the merging of their operational activities. Joining forces with IMCG enables Spinverse to further strengthen their presence in the Nordics and beyond to help clients in building sustainable businesses for a better Europe. At the same time, the company will have almost 100 employees.
Headquartered in Gothenburg, IMCG is an impact and innovation organisation which mainly focuses on developing and managing large collaborative projects funded by the European Commission. The company was founded in 2008 by Magnus Andersson (on the left in photo below) and Jonas Norrman (in the middle in photo). The challenges their customers are mainly set to solve are related to tackling the current energy crisis by transition to more sustainable energy solutions and developing innovations for smart cities and mobility.
Spinverse is the Nordic leader of managing and bringing together large, industry-led R&D projects and ecosystems. It has offices in Finland and Sweden. Spinverse collaborates with some the largest companies in Finland and in Sweden, including ABB, Nokia, Sandvik and Stora Enso, as well as with international customers such as Siemens. As a company focused on digitalisation and green transition, Spinverse specialises in innovation funding and R&D project management.
The merging of operations will strengthen the Spinverse and IMCG joint offering, which helps clients grow and tackle global challenges for example through the 38 billion euros in funding opportunities of the Innovation Fund, one of the world's largest funding programmes for the demonstration of innovative low-carbon technologies. In 2021 IMCG supported Stockholm’s energy company Stockholm Exergi AB in securing 180 million euros from the instrument. IMCG also has 15 years’ experience of successful support to many technology-driven companies to boost their innovative projects with public funding.
— Joining forces with Spinverse is a remarkable new step to execute the IMCG mission to solve global challenges with science and technology. Spinverse’s international network, well documented service portfolio, digital platform and multi-skilled world-class team helps us reach our goals faster, says CEO Lill Andréasson (on the right in photo above) from IMCG.
— These are very exciting times of growth for Spinverse. We are delighted to bring in IMCG competences to complement our service offering and welcome their highly experienced people to the Spinverse team. We are looking forward to serving together a wide range of clients throughout Europe to meet sustainable development goals and build a better Europe for its citizens, says Spinverse founder and Chair Pekka Koponen.
Koponen points out that with this acquisition, Spinverse will have almost one hundred experts. Together, the two companies have raised more than one billion euros in government grants for their customers.
Spinverse culture builds on a mission-based mindset, diversity, and inclusion. Solving global challenges is a strong part of their DNA and this is something that attracts people to join the company as well as to keep people motivated. Spinverse employees can truly say they are making an impact through their work with the largest industry players in Europe.
— Spinverse has indeed become a great place to work for anyone who is concerned about the future of the world we live in. This summer alone, we have successfully raised close to 200 million euros in funding for our customers developing forward-looking solutions and products for the European agriculture, health care and European defence industry, Spinverse CEO Laura Koponen concludes.
By the end of 2022, the combined revenue of the two companies is expected to exceed 12 million euros, with customers in 25 countries. The company’s ambition is to grow organically and by additional company acquisitions.
