The EU promotes decarbonisation of transport through CEF

The EU is funding the construction of electricity distribution infrastructure and promoting the decarbonisation of transport through the trans-European TEN-T road network under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) transport programme. In the fifth round of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF), the European Commission allocated a total of EUR 422 million across Europe.

Plugit Finland Oy received EUR 3.32 million in funding for the construction of high-capacity charging stations for electric transport. The project involves the deployment of 17 high-capacity Combined Charging System (CCS) stations for High duty vehicles, strategically located along major Finnish transport corridors. Additionally, the project includes 10 high-capacity CCS stations for light duty vehicles. This project is designed to enhance Finland's electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, supporting the country's transition to a sustainable transport system and contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In total, the European Commission awarded Finnish companies a total of around EUR 5.3 million for two projects.

Spinverse provided Plugit Finland with project proposal services

Plugit is very pleased with the outcome of the project proposal. According to Plugit Business Development Manager Aleksi Virtapuro, the Plugit Pro DC charging network for commercial vehicles can now develop as planned, in line with the increase in the use of electric transport vehicles. Over the past year, Plugit has actively analysed heavy transport and industrial traffic patterns on the TEN-T road network. These studies confirm that public commercial charging stations will play a key role in accelerating electrification and achieving emissions targets.

During the project proposal phase, Roozbeh Mohammadi acted as the project manager, supported by his colleagues Antero Vesterinen, Pekka Torvinen, Sameer Khan, Samuel Nash, Marja Jallinoja, Jussi Ryynänen Chavarría and Katri Joensuu from Spinverse. Making use of their extensive CEF funding instrument knowledge, the Spinverse team provided Plugit with services on project concepting, proposal writing and quality check. Aleksi Virtapuro concludes: “We appreciate the collaboration with Spinverse experts, who helped us structure the numerous tasks and requirements needed to come up with a successful funding proposal. Having Spinverse onboard saved our own resources and helped us focus on the technical details of the proposal.“
