Fortum is looking for new innovative ideas and partners for increased comfort of living

Does your company have an innovative idea or solution that you would like to pilot together with Fortum? Are you looking for new business opportunities and world-class expertise to support in commercialising your idea?

Fortum, in collaboration with Spinverse, announces an innovation competition for companies and teams of all sizes looking for partnerships and new business related to increased comfort of living. As a leading clean energy company, Fortum is committed to the continuous development of clean, energy efficient and comfortable solutions for better living.

Together with Fortum, we are searching for ideas that are related to the development and improvement of indoor comfort and can be implemented during 2018-2019. The ideas can be related to - but not limited to - heating, cooling, ventilation or new service concepts. They can involve for example technologies such as metering (e.g. cost efficient remote sensors; room temperature and air quality), smart systems (Internet of Things and ICT; controlling, monitoring, predicting, data collection and management, collecting user and resident data) or the visualization and sharing of the collected data. Ambitious ideas are also welcome!

Fortum will provide the winners with the opportunity to pilot their solutions with Fortum's customers, possibility to utilise collected heating data, visibility in Fortum’s communication and marketing, and world-class expertise in the energy industry. Additionally, Fortum may grant 10 000 – 30 000 EUR project funding for the pilot, depending on the pilot type. We are expecting good projects after which it’s possible to continue and develop the successful collaboration with Fortum to a long-term partnership.

The applicants must be able to give a clear description of their idea, including its novelty, feasibility and the value it could provide for Fortum’s business.

We will choose a maximum of 8 applicants to further develop their project ideas through sparring and collaboration with Fortum experts. The teams will then present their ideas to Fortum who will select the winners.

Apply by sending a description of your idea by 18.2.2018 through this link.

The description should answer the following questions:

  • Which problem is addressed by the idea/solution? What is the significance of the problem (if already known)?
  • What is the added value to Fortum?
  • How does the idea/solution work? How is it innovative and novel?
  • Is the idea/solution feasible? On which time frame?
  • What is the background of the applying company/team? Has the idea/solution been piloted before?

The ideas will be evaluated based on their impact, novelty, technological readiness and the credibility of the applicant including references and expertise on the subject area.

To hear more about the innovation competition, you can participate in an information event arranged by Fortum on Monday 12th February at 13:00-14:00 Keilalahdentie 2-4, 02150 Espoo or by webcast. Click here to register.
