Energy ECS project: Driving economic impact and real-world innovation
Over the course of its 42-month duration, the Energy ECS project, funded by the Chips JU, has been a remarkable journey of innovation. Supported by Spinverse in proposal preparation and project management, this initiative was led by Tietoevry Finland. The project brought together 28 partners from across 8 European countries to revolutionise smart and secure energy solutions for the future of mobility.

Launched in June 2021, the Energy ECS project showcased seven use cases, each demonstrating joint research results with tangible, real-world applications. Concluding with its final review meeting in Brussels on November 21-22, 2024, the project has provided substantial economic benefits to its partners, underscoring the value of collaborative research.
The use cases explored diverse aspects of future mobility and energy, including:
- Enabling new logistics modes
- Supporting energy-independent intermodal transport
- Advancing charging technologies and opportunities
- Ensuring grid stability through bi-directional charging
- Enabling safe autonomous driving.
By integrating cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, AI and smart grid solutions, the project optimised energy consumption, reduced CO2 emissions, and enhanced operational efficiency across multiple sectors.
Collaboration and expertise
Spinverse played a key role in the success of Energy ECS by coordinating proposal preparation and building a consortium of 28 participants from eight European countries. Following the successful proposal submission under the ECSEL Joint Undertaking call (now Chips JU), Spinverse provided ongoing support in project management, administration and communication.
Ksenia Avetisova, Strategy Development Lead at Tietoevry Finland and the project’s coordinator, said: “The success of the Energy ECS project would not have been possible without the collaboration and expertise of all the partners. Each partner brought unique skills and knowledge, contributing to the project’s overall positive impact.” She further emphasised: “We are grateful to the Spinverse team for supporting us on this journey as a first-time coordinator of innovation action initiative. We had an excellent team of experts from Spinverse supporting us throughout all the phases of the project, from bringing the partners together and supporting the (winning) application process, to maintaining the highest quality of events, deliverables and reporting.”
Sustainable energy solutions
As the Energy ECS project concludes, we are proud of its achievements in advancing sustainable energy solutions. The collaboration among European partners has laid a strong foundation for continued innovation in energy and mobility, driving economic growth and creating real-world impacts.
