Sumitomo SHI FW collaborated with Spinverse to secure EUR 10 Business Finland funding for their Net Zero Energy Ecosystem programme
Sumitomo SHI FW (SFW), a technology provider of integrated energy solutions for decarbonised energy, has been secured a Business Finland ‘Veturi’ funding of EUR 10 million for leading companies. Spinverse supported SFW during their project proposal phase with a successful outcome.
Building a global network of decarbonised energy
Spearheaded by SFW, the Net Zero Energy Ecosystem (NZEE) programme aims to develop new solutions to optimise sustainable energy production. By integrating diverse energy technologies and connecting them in an innovative way within broader energy systems, the programme unites partners to form a Net Zero Energy Ecosystem.
The NZEE programme balances energy consumption with renewable energy production and storage, helping to achieve net zero or negative carbon emissions. The ecosystem’s technologies and solutions bring together different energy production and consumption facilities.
The programme develops global solutions in Finland for producing sustainable fuels through gasification and carbon capture, enhancing energy security with long-duration energy storage and lifecycle services for the energy sector.
The programme focuses on the decarbonisation of the energy sector through four areas:
- Production of sustainable fuels and chemicals from residual biomass and waste
- Energy security, reliability and resilience using long-duration energy storage
- Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) solutions for energy and heavy industries
- Lifecycle services to maximise value for customers.
Spinverse supported SFW in preparing their successful project proposal
The NZEE programme is a sizable initiative with multiple focus areas and work packages. To ensure the programme's success from the start, Sumitomo SHI FW partnered with Spinverse due to our extensive experience in supporting similar projects. Stefan Nygård, VP Strategy & Marketing at SFW, worked with Spinverse experts during the project preparation phase and kick-off. The application process involves multiple steps, requiring the preparation of complex financial and planning documentation. Stefan Nygård considered the expert guidance from Spinverse a valuable addition to the application process.
He says: “Support from Spinverse helped us gain valuable insights into how similar projects have been planned, executed and led, which has been particularly helpful at the start of the programme. Spinverse guided us in finding the right direction and identifying the key information, materials, tools, processes and forums needed to establish a successful programme.
He concludes: “We are truly thankful for Spinverse’s support in ensuring the success of our NZEE programme application and in kick-starting the programme’s activities, enabling us to lead the programme moving forward.”
The NZEE programme aims to involve at least 50 partners, enabling Finnish companies, SMEs and research institutions to access new high-growth technology markets. Through the programme, SFW will significantly increase its RDI activities in Finland.
