The European Commission selected Robocoast as a European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) among the total of four EDIHs in Finland. The EDIHs will support activities to advance the digitalization of industry across different regions in Finland and Europe. Robocoast provides key competencies in cybersecurity, robotics, energy technologies, artificial intelligence, data analytics, 5G and IoT through 15 Finnish universities and two regional development companies. Spinverse supported Robocoast in the highly competitive application process and project building. The project has an overall budget of 3 M€.

Robocoast consists of 21 partners across Finland which together provide one-stop shops to help the export manufacturing industry, other industries as well as startups and high-tech companies to respond to the digital challenges and improve their competitiveness. The services are related to competence development, on-the-job training, hiring of specialists and talent attraction. Robocoast will be actively networking with other Finnish EDIHs and international actors such as CSC, EEN, and DIMECC to mention a few examples. The EDIHs will start their operations later in 2022.

Spinverse supported Robocoast in their funding application process and consortium building

Robocoast is coordinated by Prizztech Ltd. with Mikko Puputti as the Coordinator of Robocoast DIH. According to Mikko Puputti, the funding application process has many complexities, and it is important to orchestrate all of the different voices in the proposal phase to get an excellent outcome.

Spinverse supported Robocoast during the successful funding proposal process with the Digital Europe fund. Mikko Puputti says: "Spinverse experts really helped Robocoast to crystallise the project concept and put it into a larger context of the EU requirements and the Finnish specifics. Their team also helped in mapping out the complementary skills of partners and streamline the workplan to match the milestones defined by the European Commission.”

"It was a pleasure supporting the consortium to translate their plans and ambitions for their EDIH into a proposal in which the Commission believes and wants to invest. The expertise they bring in cybersecurity, robotics, energy technologies, artificial intelligence, data analytics, 5G and IoT is impressive and I am proud to have contributed along with my colleague Pekka Torvinen to their successful bid," says Senior Manager Veronica Santini from Spinverse

Digital Europe Programme brings digitalization to businesses and beyond

The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) is a new EU funding programme focused on bringing digital technology to businesses, citizens, and public administrations. It will provide strategic funding to answer these challenges, supporting projects in five key capacity areas: supercomputing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced digital skills, and ensuring a wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society, including through Digital Innovation Hubs. With a planned overall budget of 7.5 B€ (in current prices), it aims to accelerate the economic recovery and shape the digital transformation of Europe’s society and economy, bringing benefits to everyone, but in particular to small and medium-sized enterprises.
