POC4TRIAGE project consortium was awarded 9.9M€ by Horizon Europe to revolutionise urgent care triaging

Spinverse supported the POC4TRIAGE project, an ambitious Horizon Europe initiative with a budget of almost 10M€, aimed at developing cutting-edge Point-of-Care (POC) devices and a connected platform to revolutionise urgent care triaging. By enabling faster diagnosis and real-time data transfer to hospital systems, the project aims to shorten the time to treatment and improve clinical outcomes for top 3 critical conditions such as cardiorespiratory, stroke and sepsis. 

The EU has awarded funding of 9.9M€ to an international consortium led by University of Turku (UTU) to develop a suite of advanced Point-of-Care (POC) devices and an integrated platform to revolutionise urgent care triaging. By enabling faster diagnosis and real-time data transfer to hospital systems, this project aims to shorten the time to treatment and improve clinical outcomes for top 3 critical conditions such as cardiorespiratory, stroke and sepsis.

 

The main objective of the EU call, where the POC4TRIAGE project was chosen to receive this significant funding, was to harness the potential of real-time data analysis and secure Point-of-Care computing for the benefit of person-centred health and care delivery.

Creating easy-to-use POC devices for a faster diagnosis of critical conditions

POC4TRIAGE will create five rapid (<10 min) and easy-to-use POC devices with edge AI capabilities for monitoring cardiorespiratory events, detecting stroke, and analysing blood samples. These devices will integrate into a Device Hospital Connectivity Platform (DHCP) that seamlessly transfers data to hospital systems, enabling real-time triaging and improved clinical outcomes.

POC4TRIAGE has the potential to revolutionise healthcare delivery by making it more accessible, efficient, traceable, and interpretable for both patients and providers. By enabling faster diagnosis and triage of critical conditions such as cardiorespiratory diseases and strokes, the project aims to shorten the time to treatment and improve clinical outcomes. The advanced POC devices and real-time data analysis capabilities developed in this project are also expected to have a major economic impact, as the POC device and computation market continues to grow rapidly.

This consortium led by UTU brings together 19 partners from 12 European countries, including leading POC device developers, medical professionals, data scientists, and health economists. The project will have its kick-off in mid-October.

Spinverse contributed to the success of the funding application
