Industry discusses needs for R&D investments in nanotechnology

Over 60 experts from industry met the European Commission and research representatives to share experiences about nano-enabled innovations, future markets, framework and investment needs.

9 months ago the Value4Nano project started with the goal to bring industry together with the European SME sector, academia and research to work jointly on a plan for R&D&I collaboration, pilot lines and innovative business models in four selected value chains:

  • Nano and micro printing for industrial manufacturing
  • Nano-enabled, depolluting and self-cleaning surfaces
  • Manufacturing of powders made of functional alloys, ceramics and intermetallics
  • Lightweight multifunctional materials and composites for transportation

Now the first survey results have been published and over 60 experts have been gathering for the first workshop in March 2014. These activities earmarked the start of the Implementation Roadmap and will be used to deliver recommendations to the European Commission for future program topics and actions in nanotechnology under Horizon 2020.
