A Finnish learning application utilizing 3D technologies is targeting international markets with a successful investment round worth 1.5 M€ and new members in the Board of Directors. As of April 1, 2021, the Chair of the Board Jussi Kajala is the new CEO of 3DBear, whilst Laura Koponen, CEO of the innovation consulting company Spinverse, was appointed the new Chair of the Board. 3DBear was founded in 2016 to provide tools for creative learning using virtual technologies. Thanks to its idea, 3DBear became the first Finnish edutech growth company to receive millions of euros from American investors. 3DBear is now looking to become the category leader in its field, fueled by a renewed board and new investment rounds. The target for growth is in international markets and 3DBear aims to promote children’s learning using digital tools and augmented reality technologies. To accelerate their growth especially in the massive markets of India and the US, 3DBear closed a total of 1.5 M€ in funding from a Californian venture capital Brand Capital International and from Finnish Oppiva Invest.
Jussi Kajala, the new CEO and founding member of 3DBear, is pleased to receive the valuable legacy of the former CEO and founder Kristo Lehtonen, on the basis of which it is good to start growing the company into the world's category leader. Kristo Lehtonen will continue as a member of the Board of 3DBear. Jussi Kajala says: “It’s great to get to lead 3DBear and coach my great team to build new growth together. Our new board members Fredrik Lucander from Wolt and Raghunath Koduvayur from IQM bring strong marketing and growth expertise to our board. Raghunath Koduvayur’s market area knowledge and contacts in India are very important to us and it is great to have him aboard.
Fredrik Lucander, who leads Wolt's global marketing organization, is looking forward to joining in his first board member role on the board of 3DBear. The Master of Business Administration majoring on finance, began his career in strategy work at a management consulting firm, from where he set out to build marketing control models for the home of Angry Birds, the Rovio Entertainment. The development of various aspects and visibility of marketing is also the responsibility of Fredrik today, who has found his passion for marketing at Wolt. Fredrik says: “I am excited to join the 3DBear Board of Directors to contribute to the journey going forward. 3DBear will have extremely exciting times ahead, where I believe my background in efficient growth and marketing can be an asset. I'm looking forward to our future collaboration!"
“Edutech industry is well-poised for a big disruption and important focus area for the world, especially Finland and India. This was emphasized in the recent joint Prime Minister’s meeting between PM Modi and PM Marin. I look forward to working with Laura and Jussi and shape the future of learning,” said Raghunath Koduvayur.
Laura Koponen, CEO of Spinverse, is pleased with her interesting role as Chairman of the Board of 3DBear. Laura says: "It's been great to follow 3DBear's growth from its very start - after all, as its first investor, we at Spinverse Group have believed in the company from the beginning." As Chairperson of the Board of 3DBear, Laura gets to realize her passion for learning and related technologies and is looking forward to following the company’s growth in India with great interest.
