Create business abroad – Delegation trips open up new markets
Many companies have offerings that are just as suitable for the international market as they are for the Swedish market, which means it is interesting for companies to expand globally.
"It is both difficult and expensive for suppliers to enter markets abroad. However, with a delegation trip, where several operators collaborate, a neutral platform is created that can easily open doors," says Frida Barrett, Innovation Project Manager, IMCG, and recently responsible for a delegation trip to Chile.
Delegation trips are often strategically important for companies wishing to increase their opportunities to sell their products or services in another country. They also give the opportunity to learn from other companies and organisations in the same sector and increase their chances for collaborative projects.
Networks in smart cities
In the IoT Sweden Export Platform project, IMCG recently arranged a delegation trip, to Santiago, Chile, with the focus on the Internet of Things for the smart connected city. Participants on the trip included Talkpool, a company that works with water and air sensors. They took the help of IMCG to arrange as many qualitative as possible on location.
"All business is based on relationships. By being a part of IMCG's networks in smart cities I am convinced that we get a more effective and shorter market introduction. Moreover, IMCG did solid work preparing and arranging meetings with relevant companies," Stefan Lindgren, CTO, Talkpool, says.
"The better you prepare, the more you get out of the trip. Booking and arranging meetings during a delegation trip to another country demands contacts and is time-consuming. For this reason, it can be a good idea to get help," Frida Barrett says.
Crucial business relations
Apart from a week with meetings arranged by IMCG, there was also a two-day conference while there, where the Swedish delegation, Chilean companies, academia and organisations held workshops.
"It is important to highlight expert companies contributing to a sustainable societal development that can be deemed to have potential for success on the global market. A delegation trip provides a relevant exchange of knowledge, which can form the basis for crucial business relations in future," Frida Barrett, IMCG, says.
