The CHARM ECSEL JU project coordinated by Valmet aims to develop industrial IoT solutions with an improved tolerance towards harsh industrial surroundings. Digitalisation of the European manufacturing industries is the key to their continuous renewal and competitiveness. Harsh environmental conditions in manufacturing processes and end user environment may slow down the opportunities brought by IoT (Internet of Things) and AI (Artificial Intelligence). The CHARM project is set to solve this challenge.

Digitalisation is expected to bring major benefits in health care, both as effective health care solutions and in cost savings. Finland is investing significantly in R&D of both fields to become the world leader in health tech in the upcoming years. CleverHealth Network is an innovation ecosystem where Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) and a group of prominent Finnish technology companies use health care data to develop together better health care solutions for Finns and successful export products for the companies. Spinverse facilitates the ecosystem, acting as a key driver for these new innovations in health tech.
LuxTurrim5G ecosystem led by Nokia and Spinverse is building the digital backbone of smart city. Based on the smart 5G light poles developed recently, now the focus of the joint development of key high-tech companies and top-notch research groups is set on piloting the fast 5G network and developing new data driven services for the real needs of cities. Through a two-year, EUR 26 million, intensive co-development effort the group of 26 partners target the global smart city markets worth tens of billions of euros.
Spinverse wins three large competitive tenders and strengthens position in Digital and Health care ecosystems in Finland
Size does matter in R&D, but by joining forces via open innovation and ecosystems, also small actors can make big things happen. Spinverse believes that even global firms are too small to innovate just in-house as digitalisation blurs the lines of different industries.

Open Innovation (OI) ecosystem projects are complicated and demanding. Ecosystem partners have multiple roles and different internal drivers and objectives. Typically innovation projects involve high technological and commercial risks, which increase the level of complexity. Furthermore, there may be competing ecosystem projects either running parallel or about to be initiated. These characteristics require special measures and actions when leading and managing OI ecosystem projects.
Temperature sensors, drug tests and disease detection devices made out of paper: the future of green electronics has kicked-off with the INNPAPER project. The four-year project aims to develop alternative solutions to traditional electronics. It is funded by the European Commission and has a budget of €7.5 million.
