Smart Urban Furniture showcase offers a sneak peek into the future of cities

In close collaboration with several LuxTurrim5G partners, the Aalto Design Factory (ADF) team has developed four comprehensive collections of Smart Urban Furniture that not only fit into various cities’ requirements but also provide different infrastructures designed to equip the smart cities of the future. Based on a human-centric approach, the team developed a product-service ecosystem, where technology is used to enhance citizens’ wellbeing. The results of the extensive work of the design team were presented in a showcase in mid-December 2020.

LuxTurrim5G ecosystem builds the smart city of the future

Nokia Bell Labs driven industry group is building key enablers for fast 5G network based on smart light poles, which will form the digital backbone of future smart cities. The LuxTurrim5G ecosystem project has developed the 5G smart pole concept where 5G base stations, a variety of different sensors, video cameras, displays and other devices have been integrated to light poles. This creates a novel platform providing fast, low latency mobile communications and possibilities to exploit huge amount of data to make new digital services for smart cities. The solutions have been piloted already during last two years at Nokia Campus in Espoo, Finland, and now the plans are to expand the piloting to real environment in Kera region of Espoo.

LuxTurrim5G helps establish Espoo in the world's top 7 Intelligent Communities of 2018

LuxTurrim5G, the Nokia Bell Labs driven collaborative ecosystem project coordinated by Spinverse, enabled Espoo City to reach the finals of the Intelligent Community of 2018 contest. The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) announced the seven finalists on the 8th of February in New York. The think tank describes the finalists as cities that have done the leap from Smart Cities to Intelligent Communities.
