Calls for Contributions That Solve Grand Challenges

For the first time EuroNanoForum and Nanotech Europe will be joining forces to create the largest European nanotechnology event of 2011. EuroNanoForum is a biannual event organised by the European Commission. Previous EuroNanoForum and Nanotech Europe events have each attracted 700-1000 participants - enabling experts to communicate their work to the whole European nanotechnology community.

EuroNanoForum abstracts are expected to specify potential contributions to solving grand challenges with nanotechnology. The Lund Declaration of July 2009 specifies the Grand Challenges faced by European society and businesses that should be solved by sustainable solutions in several areas such as global warming, tightening supplies of energy, water and food, ageing societies, public health, pandemics and security with the overarching challenge of turning Europe into an eco-efficient economy.

Contributions are expected to address nanotechnology developments in areas such as:

  • ENERGY and ENVIRONMENT: nanotechnologies for water, food, solar, clean air, transport and construction
  • HEALTH: diagnostics, drug delivery and regenerative medicine
  • MANUFACTURING: nanomanufacturing, nanomaterial synthesis and applications, nanoelectronics and nanophotonics, bionanotechnology
  • INDUSTRIAL SAFETY: industrial safety and safety research
  • COMMERCIALISATION, including technology transfer, IP, and open innovation

Submissions address scientific, industrial and societal aspects.

The call for contributions is closing on 7th of February 2011. You can submit an abstract now at www.euronanoforum2011.eu/calls
